BTFP National Infantry Museum & Soldier’s Center
Join Beyond the Front Porch as we honor our Veterans by learning more about the sacrifices of our Nations Infantry. We will have an immersive experience featuring over 230 years of Military History located in Columbus, GA just outside of Fort Benning. This 190,000 sq foot museum houses more than 70,000 military artifacts. We will have a professional guide lead us through this massive campus, while sharing with us interesting facts of the day in the life of a soldier and also enjoy an informative IMAX movie. This activity, transportation and lunch is FREE for students on free/reduced lunch and $25 for all others.
Hunters Harvest Fall Festival and Arts & Crafts Show
The 5th annual Hunters Harvest Fall Festival and Arts & Craft show at Hunter Park will be held on November 16, 2019 from 12 pm-3 pm. This event will feature vendors from all over West Georgia and Metro ATL with various arts & crafts and food and beverage items.
The festival will also include a children’s play zone featuring inflatables and other amenities for $5. Children 3 and under are free inside the play zone.

From painting parties to cupcake decorating workshops, we offer the classics like photography and drawing plus specialty classes that are sure to surprise. Sign up before classes fill up. Light up the winter nights with your own unique painted lighted bottle! In this workshop, students will paint a glass bottle with their own unique design and insert lights for a finishing touch. All supplies and materials provided. Students have option to bring their favorite acrylic paintbrushes.
Class Outline:
Part 1: Distribute and explain supplies. (15 minutes)
Students will choose from a variety of ready-to-paint, pre-drilled bottles.
Part 2: Design
Instructor will show examples of completed bottles and allow time for students to create a design. Instructors will give feedback and suggestions.
Part 3: Painting the bottle (90 minutes)
Students will paint their bottles as desired before adding a sealant.
Part 4 | Installing lights (10 minutes)
Instructor will demonstrate how to install lights. Student will install lights in their painted bottle.
Part 5: Brief discussion on how to care for bottle (5 minutes)

The 2020 1st annual Black History Extravaganza is happening Saturday,
February 29, 2020 from 11 am to 5 pm at Douglas County High School, 8705
Campbellton St, Douglasville GA 30134. The Extravaganza programming is
family-oriented day and rooted in Celebrating the African Diaspora.
There will be panel discussions, educational activities, art gallery,
children’s activities, health and wellness sessions, storytelling,
community connection circles, youth performances, musical and dance
performances, food, goods, and services vendors, workshops, and so much
more.
The event is free and open to the public.
The Douglasville Police Department 3rd Annual Community Enrichment Day will take place on March 28, 2020 from 10 am to 4 pm at the Douglasville Public Safety Complex located at 2083 Fairburn Road. Come out and meet your public safety officials while the kids enjoy egg hunts, touch-a-trucks, and a bounce house along with food, vendors, and fun. This event is free and open to the public. Vendors are needed and Registration is $25.
